Listen to Your Brakes

6 Signs You Need Brake Repair

Brakes wear slowly, then all at once. If you notice any of these, get them checked before the next long drive.

Grinding Noise

Metal-on-metal grinding usually means the pads are gone and the rotor is taking the damage.

Squealing or Squeaking

A high-pitched squeal that won't go away is often the pad wear indicator telling you it's time.

Pulsing Pedal

A pedal that pulses or a steering wheel that shakes when you stop can mean warped rotors.

Soft or Spongy Pedal

A pedal that sinks or feels soft can point to air in the lines, a leak or worn parts.

Pulling to One Side

If the car pulls when you brake, a caliper may be sticking or one side is worn more.

Brake Warning Light

The brake light on the dash. It can mean low fluid or worn pads, so don't ignore it.

“Eric was a pleasure to do business with. Had a rear brake cylinder go out on me and he was able to replace both rear brake cylinders in a few hours. Very nice and professional with reasonable prices. He even came out on a Sunday and worked in the rain to get the job done. 10/10.”

“Eric was a great find for an old man that forgot to turn on the maintenance mode for the electric E-brake while trying to change the pads.”

“Salt probably saved my life and my job Friday night. I reached out to him after finding him on Google, and having been turned away by every other major mechanic shops. We met up in less than 30 minutes, and he diagnosed my main issues with accuracy, bought the exact parts needed, and fixed my screeching … non-braking car in 4 hours. He priced very fairly as well, and I can’t recommend him enough.”

Brake Repair Questions

How much does it cost to replace brake pads and rotors?

From $300 per axle for pads and rotors, parts included. Eric gives you the exact price for your car on the call, before he heads out.

Can a mobile mechanic do brakes in my driveway?

Yes. Most brake jobs don't need a lift. Eric gets under the car safely and does the work right where it's parked: driveway, apartment lot or work lot.

Why are my brakes grinding?

Grinding usually means the pads are worn down and metal is touching the rotor. Get it looked at soon: the longer it grinds, the more likely the rotors need replacing too.

Do you replace calipers and flush brake fluid?

Yes. Eric replaces calipers and does brake fluid flushes, along with pads, rotors and a full brake inspection.

What about electric parking brakes?

Eric works on cars with electric parking brakes, which need to be put into service mode before the rear pads can be changed.

Do you come out at night or on weekends?

Yes. Eric takes calls 24/7, weekends included. Visits between 6pm and 5am carry a flat $200 after-hours fee, which he tells you about on the call.
